Touki

Amadou Diagne has centuries of West African music at his fingertips. Cory Seznac is a French-American musical wanderer living in Paris. Brought together by a chance encounter, they found a magical connection in Touki, meaning ‘journey’.

Originally from Dakar, Senegal, Amadou comes from a long line of percussionists & praise singers. As a young man, his obvious talent won him a place in the L’Orchestra National du Senegal, performing with top West African stars around the world.

An extraordinary Kora player & guitarist, Amadou combines the sounds of sunshine with his rich & mellow voice.

Seznec’s finger-picked guitar & banjo, wade deep in the river of American song. African rhythms seeped into his style via years spent busking on the Paris Metro with Malian musicians, whilst 3 years in Ethiopia perfected his craft.

Together, Touki tell stories of West African Fables, personal journeys, & the ecological & political questions facing all countries. As they sail through the crosscurrents our complex world, Touki understands that the musical voyage itself is the destination.

Join Touki for the late folk gigs at The Architect as part of Bristol Folk Festival.
